One of the qualities I value most in a kitchen is longevity. That's why this project remains in my portfolio more than fifteen years after it was completed.

The layout was determined by the builder — whose name I can no longer remember — based on conversations with the client. She was older, knew herself well, and knew how she wanted to live.

I shared my reservations about the sink and cooktop locations, and she listened carefully before deciding to move forward with the original layout.

Her style was simple and classic. While I still have those same layout reservations today, I continue to include this project because it demonstrates the enduring power of classic design. As long as the materials are well cared for, this kitchen will continue to feel beautiful for many years to come.

The novelty has worn off. The beauty remains. To me, that's success.
